Good deal on used Silverado 1500HD??
New to the forum, but have been reading lots of stuff. Great resource.
I used to own an '05 silverado, but let it go when I started to travel alot. Now, my truck needs have returned, and I am looking for a camp/farm truck. It will make 2-3 100 mile hunting/fishing trips per year. Otherwise, all local - to the feed store, pull the trailer or tractor locally and that's it. Pull a boat.
Came across a 2002 1500HD with 220K on it. 4WD, LT, crew cab. Leather and interior in great shape. Exterior has been painted with a "flat" version of the former pewter color. Doesn't bother me too much. No dents. Six month old excellent tires. Love the large bed.
I can probably pick it up for 8500. I know it's high mileage, but anyone have any opinions about whether that's a decent deal? Below Blue Book, but we all know that's high. It's got a few other add ons worth maybe 300-400.
Thanks so much.

It's all in how it was taken care of previously. That 6.0 is gonna drink ALOT of gas. I know mine gets as low as in the 7's mpg around town and as high as 13's on the interstate. If you need heavy duty then I recomend you look for a 2500HD otherwise get a 5.3 in the 1500 and enjoy much better mileage. I would have very little trust in a vehicle with 220,000 miles on it unless I was the one who drove it that far and knew the history on it.

To me it seems like to much to spend on an 11 year old truck with 220,000 miles. If you know the history then maybe. If the engine or tranny go out then it's going to cost you even more.
