Default Got a new (used) truck. 1990 GMC K1500

I got a new truck yesterday. Its a 1990 GMC K1500 4x4. Long bed, single cab. Its white with the blue side stripe. Its got quite a bit of bed cancer, as well as the cab corners. I payed $1,650 for it. Its got a fresh 350 and a fresh 700r4. 10 bolt rear end. The O/D stoped at 207k so IDK whats on it. Dont really care. All it all, I like it. I still have my 1988 chevy with the bad trans. Saddly, its now become my own personal parts truck. I have already switched the chevy grill and head light assemblies around as well as my brush guard and mexican tail lights. Still got alot of parts to change though, too many to list.

This is my first chevy 4x4, so, what are its stats and what are its weak links? Is the t-case a gear to gear or chain driven? What are the gear ratios?

Any info at all would be much apriciated. pics will be coming as soon as I get them

why part out the 88? Why not fix them both up, one white one black? the 90 cost what a tranny job would have been in the either of them. You can shop around for a replacement trans and then have 2. You can also pull the speedo out of the 88 and put it in the 90. Lot of options. I dont like rust though so you gotta do something about that. Post pics

yeah man, I'm going to. the 90's guage cluster is foggy and that drives me up the friggn wall so they are gona be changed. I'm the same way with the rust, that will be dealt with ASAP. I really have no intent to park the 88 behind my barn and watch it rust. I really loved that truck and I couldnt let that happen to it. The 90 is going to become my DD though. I think the 88 is acctually made of thicker steel, and in better shape.

so just shop around in the U pull it junk yards for a replacement trans. and speedo cluster or even a old bed that isnt rusted out. All the beds are the same in these trucks, even the Fords, Dodges and Jeeps, they all bolt to the frame in the same places.
