Default Hard shifts & no speedo

I have an 02 2500hd 6.0 4x4 and I was firmly accelerating away from a stop sign and all of a sudden I noticed that tha ABS and brake light came on, the speedometer qiut and the shifts from the auto trans became very hard. I will take any thoughts on what might be going on. Being layed off I am trying to avoid paying a garage by the hour to search... Thank you.

Most likely the Vehicle speed sensor has gone bad.

After doing some thread searching that is what I tried. Installed new sensor from Napa. No change. I noticed when I replaced it that there was T/C fluid in the electrical connection (plug) that is what made me order it , then the shift and speedo as well as the brake light things happened. So I thought forsure I had found the problem. I there a way to test that new sensor?
