Exactly, but if money is a concern, and the pain is a concern, he could do the bypass to delay the inevitable. Since it's May, he will have a few months to forget about it. When it gets cold, he will remember real quick, though. BRRRRR!

I have heard the same thing in my 2000 Z71!!! It had been doing it for a few years now. The weird thing is my heat gets hot and a/c still works but it will only blow out on the dash. I found a friend with a switch I replaced and it worked for a week or so now its back to blowing out on the dash and no where else. Got any ideas?

A sloshing could indicate a full evaporator drain pan caused by a clogged drain as well. If you have run the A/C much, the condensation will build up in the pan if the drain is clogged. Just a thought..

Yeah, the Vortec engines have a crappy seal at the waterpump/block. The sloshing water noise might be an effect caused by a loss of coolant. It's hard to spot, but surprisingly easy to fix with some good quality high temp RTV sealer and some good name-brand (like Fel-Pro) gaskets.

Takes a large strap wrench, and a flat wrench to fit your fan clutch, but it's very accessible, compared to older engine models.

So today I did notice there was water on the passenger floor...not alot, but some nonetheless...but it was a rainy day, so I'm not sure if the water has to do with a leak in cowl area or something else...
