Default Heater fan

I got in my 98 pickup yesterday and about a half mile from home I realized the heater or at least the fan was not working. My first thought was it had rained the day before
( live in Minneapolis ) and thought perhaps something had frozen up and that was the reason my fan was not working. Anyway now I am smelling some smoke so I turned around and headed back home. Do you think I just need a new heater fan? are they easy for a noob to install? What was I smelling? Now that I think about it a while back the fan sounded like something needed to be greased.

Default heater fan

Does the fan work on high, if so it could be the resistor. If not it is probably the motor.

Fan does not work on any speed, glad to hear you think it is just the motor. What was I smelling? the fan motor smoking?
