Default Hello all. New to forum and I got Q's.

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum but I've "owned" my 2002 Chevy Silverado (2wd, 5.3L V8) for a few months now. I say "own" because it's my father's and he just gave me his old truck. (Not important, but whatever.)

ANYWAY, as a 2wd Chevy owner, a big annoyance to me is the fact that my d*mn truck sits so low to the freakin' ground.
What do I want? The look of the 2002 Z71's.
NOW, I've been looking at Z71's for months now and I canNOT figure out, for the life of me, what makes the difference between the Z71's look and the look of the 2wd's. Now, I'm not retarded... I know that the Z71's have the suspension package and are 4wd, but my main question is:
What do I have to do to my 2wd, 2002 Chevy Silverado to make it look like the 2002 Z71 Silverado?
I've been to my local Off-Road Truckin' shop in town and got some quotes on some lift kits but I just gotta know which one will give the look of those beastin' Z71's.
Options: Leveling kit (raising the front 2.5 in.), 3-in. Body Lift, or Spindle lift (3 in. lift in front and 1.5 in. lift in back).
Logic brings me to believe that the leveling kit or the Spindle lift are the choices that I'm to look into, but will the leveling kit give me the look that I want?

Long post? I know, sorry... Lol. It's been botherin me for quite some time now and I wanted a final answer.
Note: I don't plan on muddin' with my truck. I want this work done strictly for cosmetic-purposes. I want it to look bigger/more aggresive.

Answers/replies are greatly appreciated! [8D]

So you want the look of a stock Z71 or the look of a lifted one? Basically the size or type of lift you get will just depend on how big you want to go. If you just want it to look like a stock Z71 then I'd go with the leveling kit or maybe like 2 inches and slightly larger tires. I wouldn't go putting Z71 stickers on it or anything, though.. I mean it is your truck but I'll bet you'd get a lot of flack for building a "replica." But hey, just as long as you're happy with it, right?

I'm not in it to make a replica of a Z71. Stickers? No.
I just wanted the "off-road" look. (The look of a stock Z71)
I'm guessing that can be achieved by a leveling kit...?

Also note: I just got some Michelin LTX M/S's. Now, I know their treads aren't too aggressive looking, but I got the biggest size that would fit my wheel-wells (at it's current/stock height) and I think with just a LITTLE lifting, it could look good.

Yeah, if you just want that stock Z71 look, the leveling kit will clear your slightly larger tires and it'll look sharp! good luck

Hey all.
I'm back and I'm looking for some advice.
I've found some body kits that I want to use to lift my Silverado.
3" in the front, and 1.5-2" in the back.
Front:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220265084830
Back:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=310087457620

Question is: Will these work TOGETHER to achieve for me that 3" gain in the front and 2" in the back?

Thanks.

get yourself set of KYB monotubes. will lift your truck bout some 2 inches just like this. also, realign your torsion bars, will raise front.
keep in mind, KYBs are heck of stiff shocks.

But you see, this is what I was trying to avoid. I don't want to mess with the torsion bars BECAUSE of the fact that it makes the ride so much worse/stiff.
I was trying to find means of lifting the body without buying the $350 3" body kit or a suspension lift kit.

NEVER go with a body lift! they are horrible and pointless.... plus they squeak alot to. i'd go with the leveling kit, or spindle lift

Is it still bad even if it's just the 2" spacers on the back?
