Help!!!
Hi, Im 18 and just got an early graduation present and it is a brand new silver Silverado texas edition!!! It is a great truck and i absolutely love it, (as do all the girls at my high school lol). Anyways I was going to get an exhaust system put on it and got it all cleared with the chevy dealership and my warranty and it is all good, but i was looking around on youtube and saw something about the AFM (active fuel management) system in the truck causing it to make unwanted sounds. Have you all heard of this and is it something to worry about because i certainly do not want to spend $300 on flowmaster if it isn't going to sound good. Thank you so much for the help!!!
P.S. I' planning on getting a super 40 series with dual rear exit

I have heard this. What the system does is shut off a few cylinders at certain speeds and RPms to save gas mileage. When it shuts the cylinders off it sounds funny. Maybe someone with this system could be of more assistance. By the way welcome to the forum!

that's why i don't toy with the notion of purchasing a new vehicle...too many bells and whistles...i like raw truck, power, v8 all cylinders firing simplicity...hell even EFI is a little too much for me.
not ranking on your truck though, im sure its awesome! and it sure as hell gets better mileage than mine!

my dad had the same problem with his exhaust and once he figured out what it was he went and got it tuned and they took the v8 to v4 away...he didn't like it anyways lol

The guy who tuned it for him had done it to his truck cause he didn't like it either so my dad had his taken off to....i'm sure any where you can get it tuned will do it. For the tune he paid 250 and its free for life(from this particular guy) and from what i'm aware of it didn't void anything...If you don't get rid of it though you'll be replacin a couple of donut gaskets in the pipes...learned from experience lol
