My trans just went in my '94 Silverado 2500 AT w/4x4 & 5.7 engine. I needed a truck fast so bought a '93 Chevy Cheyenne 2500 AT w/4x4 & 5.7 engine. The '93 needs A LOT for inspection-more than I'm willing to put into it since the frame has a little rot in the rear and the body is not in great shape. Also, there is a grinding noise coming from the differential.I would like to swap the trans from the '93 and put it in the '94 because the '93 has a rebuilt tranny in it and I know it's good because I drove it. The problem is that the '93 is a Heavy Duty truck with the 17 bolt pan. The '94 has the 16 bolt pan. So I am willing to pull the engine & Trans out of the '93 and put in the '94, but will it work?? I believe that the tranny shifts thru the computer since there is a green plug on the passside on the topofthe tranny pan. But on the '94, the same plug is on the driver side on the side of the tranny pan. Do I need to switch computers to make this swap work?? Is it possible to do this job? Any advice would be greatly appreciated since I would like to change it out this weekend.
