Hi, i just bought a 1997 chevy silverado 2wd 5.0 ltr, it has a 3" body lift and 6" rcd lift pretty sure its rcd. i know nothing about trucks but really wish i did. i was wondering it would be possible to put a 3" spindle lift on my truck? maybe the rcd lift already comes with it? i dont know but i have a friend who i can get the spindle lift from. im jsut looking to get more height out of my truck. will it work? thnnks, sorry if this is the wrong section to be posting in. heres a picture- http://s173.photobucket.com/albums/w...t=truck001.jpg

[hr]Google the company "FAB-TECH". They make a 4" spindal drop/lift. Good quality too!

[hr]P.S. Your Fab-Tech Spindle part number is #FTS-1588-7. That is for a '97 Silverado 5.0L 2WD
extended cab.
That gives you a 4' lift.

[hr]An89Chevy - To answer your question "why lift a 2wd". If you have ever been to Baja, and on any
of their remote beach front access roads you would know why. Lifting the front end up to get larger size tires inturn lifts the differiencials up to clear those large rocks and helps in sand washes - BUT YOU NEW THAT! Also installing rear semi-floating differiencial (limited slip) helps greatly improve traction. Now as far as true "off-roading" goes I would agree 4wd is the way to go. But I just can't see beating those $35,000 to $50,000 (and up) trucks to death.

Default Lift on 2wd

What's wrong with a 4" spindle lift, and a 2" coil spacer on front with a 4" block on rear ? New job takes me on some rough dirt roads.

Wrong. 4wds, and 2500HD and 3500s don't have coils,l 2 or 4wd. The 1500s do. At least a 97 does.
