I have a 97 Chev K1500 with the tow package that I want to install a brake controller on. I have the blue wire in the harness at the rear of the truck. Where/ how do I find it at the front? Is it under the dash, under the hood, a little of both? Manual has no helpful info and the dealer wasn't much help either. I figure if I have it at the back of the truck, it's gotta end at the front somewhere.

it should be up near or just under the power brake booster tied up with wire tie .should have a orange wire also for auxiliary power 12 volt lead .

 

Thanks William! Which wire is the "cold" wire for the brake switch? My Manual doesn't show the brake switch?? I will probably figure it out when I get to the switch, figured if someone couild tell me it would save methe time fo testing. I do have a white wire at the rear bumper that had a tag that said swch brk or something similar. Does that mean the "cold" wire will be white?

i cant tell you the color ,you will have to probe the wire with a test light when you push the brake pedal to see which wire is hot or not for the brake light switch.

 

white wire kind of hard to get to the switch on that truck
