Default Help please 2000 silverado wont srart

<HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000; COLOR: #000000" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->
My Silverado 2000 5.3 vortex, was doing the same at full or low fuel in tank, driving or sitting at light, just jumps around (fuel gage), and now it wont start, checked fuses, fuel pump relay, and listened for fuel pump no sound, figure I';m going to have to change, but tried spraying starting fluid in intake and tried starting, but won't start just cranks. Is it something else before i start droping the fuel tank? Please help ASAP.

Check to make sure you have power and ground for the fuel pump, use a fuel pressure gauge on the schraeder valve to verify you have pressure before dropping the tank, and just verify you are getting spark. if its not starting momentarily with the ether you have a spark problem not fuel.

If you have anywhere between 70K-100K on that truck then it would not be a surprise that your fuel pump went out, I also believe that your truck still uses a float gauge connected to the pump itself which would explain a lot... I could be wrong though, I would recommend connecting a pressure gauge as mentioned above or if you have a fitting big enough right where the fuel filter is and see if you are getting any pressure when you turn the key. My truck runs around 55psi if this is any help to you.

Thx, I used a anlizer from auto zone and had erro reading 8 times, read the book said could be controll mod. which would explain why the truck does not start when spraying starting fluid. But does controller if detecting no fuel pressure cut off ing. if so guess I'll be dropping the fuel tank. Bought book can't find anything about fuel pressure down so it cuts off ign.
