Default Help with tires

I need some help with tires on my 07 Silveraldo. The stock set only lasted 20k, and i slid of the road in 4wd in a snowstorm (never happened before), and not a bad one. Replaced with Cooper Discovery and at 14k they look like they may only last 3,000 more. Any help on a tire that will last. Don't care about $$$, Looking for value in lasting and safety in snow/mud. Thanks all.

I have Nitto Terragrappler all terrains. They are aggresive, quiet, soft, long lasting, and pulled my 1998 K2500 out of 3' mud from a stand still with the frame dragging the whole time.

They receive my full endorsement.

They aren't overly expensive either; I got my set of 4 for around $600; I think less. I've had them for 3 years and they still have plenty of tread. I wouldn't hesitate to take them through mud again if I needed to.

I've talked to quite a few people who had the nitto all terrains on their truck and they said they didn't really like them. For whatever reasons I don't know but they all switched to BFG all terrains and I had them for a while on my truck and they lasted for ever

Default Thanks

Thanks for the help, I'm going to look at both of those.

P.S. Isn't the oil filter on the 07 the dumbest design ever? What a bitch to change!

nokian or toyo i have been selling tires for 20+ years those two are #1 traction and wear ask the guy selling them what the durometer of the tire is if he knows anything about tires he should be able to tell you == durometer is the hardness of the rubber !!!!! harder rubber means higher mileage but crappy in the rain give and take has to happen somewhere good luck

nittos are crap, BFG's are $$$ but very good, do research on your investment 1st before you buy, tirerack.com has user info on tires.

Hi DJ2007,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

It sounds to me like you have some alignment or suspension issues, to be tearing up tires that fast.

For example, my last set of tires, from the factory, lasted 65,000 miles. Now I know that's pretty decent, but I only mention it to illustrate what a decently balanced and rotated set of tires can do.

Tire brands aside, have a competent alignment tech look at your ride.
