Help truck won't start
Help my Mexican truck won't start. I parked it Monday night after a tough 30 drive to the village. It had been giving me problems all day, it wouldn't start, then it would, tried to get it fixed wouldn't fail to start with mechanic aroundd. It has a new fuel pump which seens to be working well. This morning it went out to start the truck a 2000 Silverado with a 350 and it would turn over great but not fire. I could smell gas but when I checked no spark. When I checked the coil it was not firing. I don't know these engines well but checked it two prong coming into the coil and one pin was hot when the key was on. The assembly attached to the coil has a four pin connecter the two end ones were hot when the key was on. Help I am a long way from auto parts, what can I check and where to find the bad part. I did swap the ignition relay and checked all the fuses I could find.
It sounds likea bad crank position sensor. It is behind the harmonic balancer under the front of the engine. It picks up a pulse from a reluctor ring on the front of the crank shaft. It is held in by one small bolt and a metal bracket that is part of the sensor. Good luck!
