Default High Oil Pressure.

I have a 2003 Silverado with the 5.3 V8 engine. It has 122,000 miles on it. The oil pressure gauge goes to 80 psig (looks like it's pegged high) when I start the engine, and stays there all the time the engine is running, no matter how far I drive or no matter what speed I'm traveling at. I just noticed this a couple days ago and am looking for help on how to fix this problem. No idiot lights or engine warning lights come on when I run my truck. Best wishes;

It could be a bad sending unit or a bad gauge. Try a mechanical oil pressure gauge just to see if you are getting a false reading with the factory gauge.
