Default Hour meter / trip odometer woes

First of all, thanks to all who read and/or able to help!

Truck is a 2001 Silverado. V8, automatic.

Problem is trip odometer has gone heywire. It resets itself. It won't work accurately. It re-sets as I drive along.

Odometer works fine.

Hour meter sometimes will come on all by itself. (It seems like when the hour meter comes on and stays on overnight, the battery runs down.)

Any advice? Cures? Suggestions? I appreciate all replies!
