To put a Cam and heads on it you do not need to take the engine out just need to take intake and everything bolted to your heads off(alternator, water pump etc.) Then unbolt you heads and your ready to go!

You will also have to remove the radiator and a/c condenser if you are going to put a cam in it. And the lifters can be a bear to remove if high mileage. When changing the cam you may want to consider changing the cam bearings also. Be very careful when pulling and re-installing the cam that you don't nick the cam bearings. Might be better to pull the engine.

Do you already have a dash with those gauges? Sounds like you might want to hit up your buddies at the junkyard for a clean gauge cluster...

Dakota Digital has some gauges that fit right in your cluster and are all digital! Pricey though!
