Default How long to rull temp in ur 5.3

How long does it take to get up to full temp? My drive to work is 7-8 miles. If I drive it on city streets I don't reach full temp. If I drive it the route that has 5 miles of it on highway I get to full temp just before I get there.

This is during 10-15 degree temps. Curious if my thermostat is working right.

Im not fully sure about how long it actually takes. This would depend one how you drive your truck, or if you let it warm up before leaving.. Honestly I think it's taking a little longer to warm up than it should but thats just me. 7-8 miles your truck should be heated up.

If worst comes to worst a thermostat is less than $20 bucks and shouldn't take more than a half an hour to install.

I thought about changing it out. How much fluid will I lose? Is it as simple as put that much fluid back into the overflow? I thought you had to bleed system of air or something after doing it.

Easy way to tell if the t-stat is working or not is to drive it on the highway and watch the temp gauge. If it drops significantly on the hwy and then rises back up when you come to a stop (and sit there for a little bit) then your thermostat is bad. Nowadays they are designed to sick open rather than stick closed.

If you do change the t-stat, the cooling system will need to be bled properly.
