I want my truck to go faster.
Hello Im new to this. I bought my first vehicle about 3 months ago. Its a 2000 Chevy silverado 1500 z71 5.3l. I want my truck to go faster. Ive been searching around. and seen a Chip? I was wondering how would I install one of those and is there anything i would have to afterwards. Also whats a good brand with out being heavy on the pockets lol. Also what is a good exhaust system, I want my truck to be real loud. I will post pictures in a couple hours, I am not home right now. Thank you.
Hi BmoreRavens89,
Welcome to the Chevy forums.
What's the mileage? The reason I ask is there may be a lot of horsepower to unleash with simple tuneup items.
The transmission filter should be changed every 40K or so, that'll restore a little oomph. The same for a new set of plugs, air and gas filter.
If you're going to get a CAI or exhaust, do it before you give your vehicle's specs to Blackbear or Nelsontune, or the like, for a new CPM chip. That way they can factor those items into the program.
Right now, do a thread search in this section; many folks with trucks similar to yours have done very well and are now happy with their truck's performance.

If you want loud, true dual 12 or 18 inch glasspacks.but if you want it to sound good, Flowmaster 40 series single chamber, it'll sound great with a real decent rumble. as for a chip or tune, a blackbear or nelson tune would be the best route. Like rivereye said though, a thread search will help you a lot.
