Default Ignition module

My 1990 Silverado 4x4 has gone through 3 ignition modules in the last 3 months. The last one only lasted 8 days! I'm putting a liberal coating of dielectric grease on the back side as per instructions. I'm baffled, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like your distributor may be getting a electric spike from somewhere.

Hows the big three?(POS,NEG, battery cables and engine to body groundstrap?)

Turned out to be the pick-up coil. I'm not 100% sure though... a new pick-up coil got the truck started but the old one tested out to be fine.(???) I didn't change the module this time so maybe it was the p/u coil...I still don't have a good feeling about this.

You might have to get a little more aggressive than tightening a few connections.

Electricity moves on the outside of the wires. Corroded wires provide high resistance to a 12Volt system.

Consider replacing the cables.
