Ignition Switch Help 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 6.0L V8
I just bought a 2004 SILVERADO 2500HD 6.0L V8, had it checked out by a mechanic before I bought it because an key/ignition issue. The mechanic said it needs the ignition switch, blower motor and blower resistor replaced, but wanted $850 to do the work. So I'm going to do the work myself. But the AC/blower works just fine when the key is clicked back after starting the truck. It won't come on by its self 90% of the time. The blower resistor does need to be replaced because only 1-4 speeds work, if it's on 5 speed it turns off the blower completely. I looked up How to replace the Ignition Switch and no one instruction is the same... some make it sound easy and some hard with specialty tools needed... Can anyone help or give me any suggestions besides paying someone to do it which I can't afford. Thanks

I may not need a new blower resistor if speeds 1-4 work just not 5? Could be the 40a fuse under the hood? But I think I am going to replace the Blower Motor because its quiet at speed 1, at 2 you start to hear some noise and it just gets louder at 3-4. So I think the motor is going out..

Replaced the blower motor and that fixed the noise, but the fuse is good so I'm hoping it the relay in the resister that's bad and not controls panel/switch which is expensive.
I replaced the ignition switch and it didn't fix the problem! still have to click the key back after starting to engage the accessories like the AC, blower, radio, etc....
