Default interior lights on 02 silverado

When using the remote control to unlock the doors my interior lights come on. Now when the doors are un-locked and a door is open,( driver side or passenger door ) the lights do not come on. Anyone know what operates these lights? Can't see a push button type door switch like the one that was on my '93 C1500.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Ed

Is the DOME OVERRIDE button (just below the headlamp switch) pushed in by any chance?

The door ajar switch is part of the door latch assembly on yours. It's wired to the BCM and thus it's the BCM that determines when to turn on the courtesy lamps. Do you hear warning chimes when you open the door with the key in ignition? If so, there's nothing wrong with the door ajar switch, at least on the driver side. It's possible that the DOME OVERRIDE button is shorted out or its circuit is.

I'm such a dope! When looking to see if the dome over-ride switch was open, I was looking at the cargo light switch(button)
Yes indeed the dome over-ride switch was pushed in, all is well now, thanks for all your help..........Ed

Is this what happens when you have 40+ years in the electrical industry??? LOL

Glad to hear that you got it sorted out. Don't worry, it happens to the best and you won't be the last, either.
