Well, for Christmas I received a new Pioneer CD player/Stereo/speaker system for my truck. It came with the two 4x6 speakers that I need to replace the two rear speakers. I was hoping somebody had a diagram for how to remove the plastic interior panels that cover those speakers. I know I will probably have to unbolt the seatbelt somehow and I would really like to do this without damaging any of the panels. So if anyone has any diagrams, hints, tricks, or likewise on how to go about doign this... I'd greatly appreciate it!

thats a good question.. iv wanted to change my rear speakers FOREVER... but i dont wanna mess with it because mine is extended cab and it looks hard as hell to do...

 

I did this in my 89, i broke the clips holding the panels in, Sears and Snap-on sell a trim panel removal tool. looks like a large fork basically. All i have to say is good luck. The seat belt is easy to unbolt though. Just pop the covers and unbolt it. Wish I could be more help.

 

Uh oh... I have a tendency to break things whenever I work on them. damn.

I couldn't even replace my starter without breaking the terminal off of the smaller wire. Couldn't tighten my mirrors without breaking the clips off the covers. Couldn't replace the tail lights without breaking the clips that hold them in. Couldn't do my exhaust without dropping a pipe and ruining the flange. I could go on and on and on and on. I'll be sure to get that tool next time I'm out. Do you think Autozone or Napa would have the trim removal tool??? I don't have a Sears or Snap-on anywhere near me.

 

Autozone might. I always go to Autozone for fancy dress-up stuff. I don't beleive in their auto parts, I go to O'reillys or Napa.

 

Well I dropped by the NAPA and they had the tool... at least I hope it's the right one; it looks like a fork just like you said it would. It's called a "Trim Pad Removing Tool"

It's not bad, but seems a little pricey for something I'm only gonna use once. Although... maybe this'll give me an excuse to redo the headliner...

 

not bad.. but yea they try to rp ur arm off on the 1 time kinda tools..i want to redo my headliner too..i want a rebel flag up..

Yeah I'll end up replacing mine probably with a Nice big ol' chevy bowtie. Mine really needs to be replaced because it's sagging like they all do, but the truck was also owned by a smoker about 15 years ago so it is slightly yellowed and no amount of scrubbing can get it all out, even though it got the smell out.
