Hey guys I have a 2004 chevy 2500hd with the 6.0. Sometimes the starter only clicks once when i try to start. it will take 5 or 6 trys and then it will start! Swapped relays and still the same . sometimes it starts right up. I have seen many people post about this on another site but no answers. Anyone have an idea???

 

Replace the starter. A quick test is turn the key to starter on position, if it doesn't turn over, have someone rap the starter with a hammer - if it goes time to replace the starter. This has worked for me on a 68 Chevelle and a 93 Suburban.

 

yes i have heard of this with older model trucks but heard it doesnt work for newer. 2000 and up. not sure why though, ill give it a shot

 

it works for anything with a standard starter, if theres a bad spot in the armature or solenoid sometimes it will "unstick" it if you smack it.
