Default Just got a 93silverado

I got this 93 Silverado in a hot tub/jacuzzi trade.

Long story short, I am a Mover. These people hired me to move a working extra large hot tub. Instead of taking it to the dump, I posted it online for $2000, since I knew it worked. Nobody was interested, so I bound down to $1500, then $1000. Just as I found a buyer, my buddy's boss says he wants it and will trade my a truck. I go over and look at it, run it, and we have a deal. I delivered the hot tub and that was that.

I've never owed a Chevy anything. Only ford's. Multiple 86-92, gas and diesels.

I hit some hard times over the years and I've been car-less. I'm really excited and looking forward to driving this truck and making it look as new as possible. It's a rear wheel drive, 5.7 v8, it's got a carb and injector of some type, this is where I'm lost. I don't understand this engine. Is it any good? How reliable is this truck? Are repairs expensive? The truck has no problems that I know of. And I see this guy almost every day so I would assume he wouldn't trade me a junk truck.

Any info would help. I want to get to know this truck from the inside out.

What are your experiences with this truck?

It has throttle body fuel injection. Very reliable trucks and cheap to fix. It is 22 years old so it really depends on what work has been done and how well its been maintained over the years.

My 93 suburban has the same motor with 340k on it and only routine maintenance and minor repairs in it's history. Tranny replaced at about 200k. What's your mileage?
I would still jump in mine and drive it across country if needed. Been a reliable rig and easy to maintain.
Doesn't FORD stand for "Found On Roadside Dead"??

It's got 116,000 miles. Runs good. I'll record a video and upload it. I'm not pro or anti ford vs Chevy, you should see what the guys over at Ford truck forums say about Chevy guys.

I've owned maybe 8 or 9 cars, all older than this one. This time I'd like to take care of my truck and make it new looking, mint condition all original.

Great! 116k is just getting started. I would suggest doing all fluids at your earliest convenience! Ford & Chevy guys talking bad at each other is one of the things that makes America great! All in good fun!
