It seems from reading a lot of the posts here that the majority of complaints about Chevy trucks are mostly about 1500 and not the 2500 of 3500s.

Is it because there are far more 1500s than the others or are they really more problematic than the others??

There are a lot of 1500's out there in the general public and are often subject to incompetent ownership. The lions share of 2500 and 3500's went into fleet service where they had greater maintenance budgets. More abuse but better shop care I do believe. I could be wrong but, That's my two cents.

the 2500 trucks are better in everyway for every manufacturer. When you want to pound on a truck, they are designed to take it. you can't even put a snow plow on a 1500

This lends well to my comment about incompetent ownership as well. Being in Western New York, I see countless personal plows during the winter and only one in ten is 2500 or better. On top of that at least one in ten 1500 with a plow on it around here is only 2 wheel drive. While I lol at these clowns trying to move lake effect snow and just spinning chained rear tires it's heartbreaking at the same time.

A lot of idiots with 1500's They buy them and treat them like a workhorse because they genuinely believe that is what it is for. A 1500 properly cared for and treated will last just as long at the 2500's, it's just no one does. My 1500 is no exception. Original owner took very good care of it, Second owner drove it like a truck so when I got it it was a funky hybrid that is trying to die at 201,500 miles..
