Welcome from Florida. It's a fuse box and should open without a key.

Yes. That is a picture/symbol of a fuse, showing what is behind the panel. Pull with your finger in the little depression/handle area and it will pop right off. Fuses and maybe a relay or two will be behind it. Every GM truck I ever had put the fuse panel right there where the dash meets the driver's door.

It sure beats my older 80's or 70's GM vehicles where the fuses were up under the dash, and much harder to get to.
