Let's see, read the RPO codes and look for LLY or LB7 or read the VIN and have to know both the 8th digit means something and what meanings are. Yep, sounds just as easy to me.

1. Open glove box and look for LLY or LY7.
2. Look at VIN where you have to know which position to look at then know what the number means in that position.
It's a no brainer, for some, that option 1 is an easier way to determine what engine the truck has.
A test. Does my truck have a locking rear diff? Pick the easiest way to determine.
1. Open glove box and look for G80.
2. Raise rear tires off ground and spin one wheel and see what the other wheel does.

Im not going to argue because looking at a vin tag and looking at a sticker is the exact same thing. Why are you trying to argue? I am just trying to help somone out either way is fine we are both right. And how are you going to compare looking at a vin tag to raising a vehicle off the ground??????

I told him what to look for!! Im not going to ruin this post acting childish!! Both ways are right and should get you on the right track! Either looking at the RPO codes or Looking at the 8th number for either a one or a two!
