Default locked brakes

i have a 93 k-1500 and my rear driver side drum locked up on me while wheelin'. we didnt know why so we checked the differential and it was fine. pulled my tire off and hit the drum with a hammer to pull it off and the wheel was able to spin again. however my friend thinks it has something to do with the e brake. i adjusted the pads to where the drum was as snug as the passenger side and it seems to be fine. can anyone tell me what might have caused my wheel to lock up? this happened after u-joints on drive shaft snapped and the u-bolts for the lift snapped too. my axle wrapped and everything is fixed but i am still a little concerned abouit wheel lock up. again it would be awesome if anyone could tell me what might have happened. thanks.

ya i mean the differential is fine. maybe it could have been an axle shaft?

thats true too. the only thing i thought was weird was that the pads were basicaly pushed out to be tight on the drum. haha

This happened to me on an F-150, turns out most of the springs holding the shoes were broken and they were twisting sometimes and jamming up the drum. Have you actually had the drum off to inspect everything inside?
