Default motor decoding help.

i have a 81 scottsdale. that i thought had a 305. but when i pulled the motor i seen on the block the numbers said 25 GM 3970010. i was wondering if someone could tell me what it is. thanks.

scroll down and you will see this decodes as a 2 or 4 bolt main 350 block, '69-'80.

Ok. Why couldn't it be a 327? Has the same number.

MOST, not all, production small blocks use the same block, just different cylinder bore sizes, crank journals basically. a measurement of cylinder bore diameter can tell alot.
