I just bought an 03 Avalanche with 5.3 and I am planning on changing the muffler out for something better. I want something that has a little more growl than stock when I get on the gas but I do not want to hear it inside the truck while im driving down the highway. I had flowmasters before and they did sound great but they are much to loud for what I am wanting now. I am also going to put duel exhaust with 3" tips out to the back. Any suggestions?

 

u want it quieter, but u putting 3" tips on?, ok u can get quieter flowmasters, they go by series, what u had was prolly 30 or 40 series, if u like the sound try a 50 or 60 series, they r bigger and heavier, but they will last forever, or u can go with a cheapo turbo muffler

 

I do not want it quieter than stock, I do want it quieter than flowmasters Ive have in the past. Im thinking about going with 18" magnaflow..

 

18" Magnaflows sound pretty good. Do you know what series of Flowmaster you had on your truck previously?

I would recommend a 70 series flowmaster, if you liked the other flowmaster's tone. It'll be very similar, just quieter. They also have very low interior resonance.

 

I would recomend that you stear clear of CSI for your situation, they sound beautiful but i can not only hear but feel it in my cab with the windows up (3" exhaust, 350SB)
