You still leave one to assume many things, Steve.(Happy Holidays,BTW)Did you have the battery tested, or are you assuming it's ok?
Do you have a trouble code on your dash? How are your battery cables?(Yes, disconnect the battery, cut open the insulation and actually LOOK for corroded wire-bad cables are "The great imitator" of starting problems.)Check to be certain the battery connections are clean, dry, and (not too)tight. Lights are low amperage, starter power is another story.
I recently replaced the GM battery in my 04, and IMO, none too soon. It was barely adequate, hardly a burly truck alternative.
Once you level the playing field with clean primary cables and a functional battery, then it's time to embrace the grand adventure of starter solenoids, relays, and trouble codes. You probably would have already seen a trouble code. Start pricing a good Starter Solenoid VS a reliable rebuild or new starter with the solenoid included. Best of luck.

your right! i was only looking at the gauge on the cluster for my battery level.
i cleaned the terminals and it started right away. i guess that's what happens when you expect the worst.
thank you for the help
