My review for EBC greenstuff brake pads and EBC slotted rotors
#1
My review for EBC greenstuff brake pads and EBC slotted rotors
TAKE A LOOK AT MOST RECENT POST FOR UPDATES
When using googling for reviews I could barely find any for EBC for trucks
so I figured I would make my own for others to find.
EBC Greenstuff ceramic/kevlar 7,000 series brake pads
EBC Ultimax slotted performance brake rotors
Being fitted on my '95 Silverado K1500
The pads plus OEM standard rotors were $218
But with the slotted rotors and their discount it came out to about $255.
I originally just ordered the standard OEM EBC brake rotors but a day later the supplier
I bought them from told me they were out and gave me a killer deal on the slotted rotors,
Only $37 more and I just couldn't pass that up.
Slotted rotors essentially help with the heat. Excessive heat causes rotors to warp,
Slotted rotors cope with the heat better so they are good in racing, towing, and commuting
In gridlock traffic conditions.
And the greenstuff ceramic/kevlar pads help by puting off minimal brake dust, and I believe they
Don't get as hot as standard brake pads do.
I have the 7,000 series which is their top of the line ceramic brake pad-maximum stopping
Power with minimal brake dust.
Also, the brake fluid in the reservoir looks like pepsi, so I will be bleeding the whole system
Through the Front and back calipers replacing all of the fluid with the recommended DOT 3.
And I suppose rotate my tires front to back while I am at it.
The pads come with something called "Brake-in coating" which supposedly helps the pads seat
Faster and better so I will wait til I have driven for a while getting the pads worn in before
I make any notations or comments on how fast and well they seat.

I had ebc on my bike and they did very well (though I preferred galfer)
So I am very anxious to get them worn it, I am heading down to see the
folks for Christmas and when I come back home on Christmas Day I will
Likely hit the unholy bay area holiday traffic so I know they will get worn
in pretty quick.

So I would call them officially worn in now and they work extremely well.
Also they are as silent as can be, no noise whatsoever.
Also they put off damn near no brake dust at all which is basically why
I wanted to go ceramic so I am very pleased.
I tried slamming on my brakes doing about 50mph to almost a dead stop and the
stopping distance seems to be on par with what I would expect the truck's stopping
Distance and stopping power to be, so stopping power is good IMO.
Also I drained out my brake fluid in the reservoir and also through all 4 calipers.
However I can't tell if what came out was either Pepsi, or neglected 16 year old
Fluid. Either way, nice and clean now
The "brake in" coating on the pads was not an issue AFA stopping power or anything.
The pads did seat very quickly and I could actually feel a difference in braking
After the coating wore through.
Overall for the $255 I spent on EBC is turning out to be a great investment
and no regrets. The $90 or whatever it was that I paid for the pads was a good deal.

5,000 miles on rotors and pads
So I took some measurements with my micrometer/caliper
of the rotors to see how much they have worn since installed.
They have barely been touched, not even worn 1/10 of a millimeter.
These things are gonna be on here for a while!
the drivers side measures 32.86mm and the passenger side 32.89mm.
which AFAIC means they are identical and wearing evenly.
I did not measure the pads, but AFAIC they are look almost the same
as when I installed them.
There is still no break dust on my wheels and I am very pleased.
no pulsating and no squeeling to a stop, they are completely silent.
Notice in the pictures I just attached there is no dust buildup on
the caliper, the pads themselves or anything else.
The pads are still the green that they were made to be.
that bit of darkness on the pad in the 2nd pic is brake greese, not dust.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rotors and pads here

Great write up Mille, good data, though I LMAO with your acronyms, IMHO. :-)
Know how fast the Burbans eat brakes, I might just opt-in for the EBC option when it's my turn. I used EBC on my hooligan motard a few years back and was impressed with the performance in a very abusive environment.
Thanks again!

So I just did my 6,000 mile tire rotation and I checked the rotors.
I have got 12,000 miles on the rotors and the pads now.
After 12,000 miles, starting out at 32.86mm, they now read at 32.73!
12,000 miles of my hard driving/braking and the ceramic pads have only worn the rotors about 1/10 of a millimeter! These rotors are gonna be on for a while.
