Default Need Advice from Z71 owners

i want to buy a 1990 z71 2500 AT with a 350 in it. it has 160K miles on it, what should i be looking for. the guy says it drives fine and it's a daily car for him. when i go look at it, what are the common things to go after that many miles?

ANY advice is welcome,

thanks in advance!

if it were myself buying i would examine the tranny, fluid, how it shifts under different driving conditions, when driving it you will notice small stuff ,,,maybe pulls one way or another, swerves when braking, ask for service records and see what has or hasn't been done(or what needs to be done)with a 2500 i guessing the guy used it for towing or something...make sure no slop in the rear end..im sure there is more....always be buyer aware

i have a 90 single cap Z71 and honestly, i dont really have anything wrong with it. besides the fact that when i did a valve job the guy surfaced the heads wrong so it leaked like a siv. but check the front diff. assuming its the same thats in a single cab. mine was leaking fluid a while ago. most likely because my dad didnt drive it much so a gasket let out. other than that, i dont think you can go wrong with it. i read an article about an 89 single cab long bed that hit 1,000,000 miles with every original gasket under the hood. the 90 is a solid truck.

Yeah like they said check all your driveline fluids and slop in the rear end, transfer case and front end, also just so you know the only trucks you can get the z71 package on it the 90's were the half ton 1500's, so its probubly just a 4x4 with z stickers on it.
