Question Need guidance in adding Cruise Control 06/07 classic

I have a 2007 1500 classic 2wd with a v6. I have found posts regarding cruise on the regular 07 and newer trucks but I have the older one.

It did not come with cruise control so I want to add it.

Is there a kit that works best?
What is it called/part number/brand/where to purchase/etc.....

I think I have read the truck is prewired... true or no?

Is it a matter of just changing out the turn signal switch to the cruise model and adding a control box of some sort under the hood? and attaching to the throttle body?

Do I have to program/adjust the computer at all?

Thank you so very much for any help!

Default Cruise on your classic 06/07

I put cruise on my NBS 2007, bought it from a jobber in Elk River MN, name of the company that makes it is Rostra, they have a website. I am very happy with the cruise, only problem I had is that it had to do the "pedal pull" variety and it takes a bit of work to get the pull cable through the firewall at the right position, and I had to purchase an additional relay that wasn't included in the kit - but still less than $200 for the kit and it works well.
Had to get access to the VSS wire also, which was not a problem, Rostra instructions spelled out what wire I was looking for. Probably a day to install.

Thanks hydrodriver...

I understand on the 07 new body style and newer such as 08 & 09 you have to use an aftermarket kit.

But I have the 07 classic (old body style) same as 06. And I could have sworn I read somewhere that all I have to do is change out the turn signal lever/switch to the cruise style and then maybe add the control box under the hood. And maybe get the computer flashed or programmed for it.

Just wondering if it's really that simple or is there a lot more to it and if anyone has the part numbers and approximate costs of getting the computer programmed for it (if even nessecary).

Thanks guys.

I think your on the right track from your previous post. I'm almost positive you have to flash the computer for it.

Kellfree, did you find an answer to your question? I have a 2006 V6 Silverado without cruise and would like to install it on it as well.

Thanks,
