Need help. Want to put a 383 in my 1995 Truck
Hello Truckers,
I have a 1995 Chevy K1500 that has grown tired over the years.I want to replace the 350 with a new Chevy Crate 383.The torque curve starts at low RPM and is at 400 lb-ft by 2500 RPM which is perfect for how I use the truck.
Chevy says the HT383 is great for Pre-1980 GM trucks and the HT383E is for 1996-1999. I called Chevrolet Performance and the tech there said this engine is not compatible with the 1995 computer, instrument gauges or transmission control.
Has anybody out there been successful using either of these 383’s in a 1995 truck?
Thanks for any advice.
