I have a 1997 Silverado Z71 4x4 5.7L with 197K on the odometer. For the last 6 months I have had starting problems. The truck would start cold no problem, if I turned the truck off after reaching warm up under normal driving conditions and tried to restart, it would turn over but would not start up again until cold. This could be 15 min. to several hrs. depending how cold it was outside. Most recently it has gotten to the point where it won’t start at all. It does not misfire, backfire or have loss of power.
Here is a list of parts I replaced so far. Fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel relay, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, air filter, ignition control module, crank sensor, coil, coolant sensor, cats and oxygen sensors.
The last thing I have tried is replacing my fuel pump again that was less than a year old with a Delphi and clean the Mass Airflow Sensor. Truck started and then stalled as usual. Checked the fuel pressure which only got up to 55lbs. I know normal pressure should be between 60 and 65 lbs. checked the lines, no leaks. Now truck will not start at all. I have spark. I can’t hear the pump and have no one to turn the key so I can check at the pump connector for power. Also I pulled the fuel relay and put a multimeter. Less than a volt on only one pin. I can’t find any fuses on the fuse panel or inline. Put 12 volts to red wire with open connector next to brake booster, was told that would power pump no luck. I’m out of work and almost out of money and I’m desperately in need of some help. Don’t have another 1k to drop on ignition switch, computer, fuel pressure reg., injectors,etc, and tired of guessing. Any help is most appreciated.
