Default Need a little help!!

I have a 1986 Silverado with an 8" lift sitting on 35 12.5's and it has a turbo 400 automatic tranny. The problem that I have been having is that the transmission seems like it's slipping. I go to gas it and it boggs down and hesitates to go. A friend of mine told me to tighten my bands on the gears and it would help. I just wanted to see if anyone has any advice, or if you would know how much to tighten the bands? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

check the trans oil to see if it stinks or is discolored
if you give it the gas and the engine boggs down and you dont go anywhere that may not be slipping
when you give it the gas and the engine runs high rpm and you still go nowhere you are either in park, neutral, or your tranny is shot
oh by the way, 35x12.50's will destroy a stock auto tranny pretty quick, if yours is bad, have it built stouter

Alright I will go and check that out thanks. The truck has a 350 with a turbo 400 trans and the gears were all extened. Thats what the guy that traded me the truck said.
