Default New 2500HD need to lift

New to the forum, I have a 2010 2500HD crew cab and am getting a 2013 next week to replace it. I'd like to lift it a bit as I drive a lot on ranch property over sage and would like a little clearance plus I think it looks good. Can you give me some recommendations on which is the best kit to have installed and how much to lift it. I don't want to go big, just enough to get over the sage and rocks and have it look good. I've also heard that gas mileage goes down when you lift, don't know if that's true or not. Thanks in advance for putting up with my newbie questions.

Like a 4" lift with 33s? Or a 6" on 35s? And yes mpg goes down. But you can regear to help along with a custom tune.

Is it gas or diesel?
