I am thinking about buying a crew cab 4WD 2500 with a 6.0L. I am curious about what the mileage in a new one will get. I heard they have revamped them lately and they should get better mileage? Can anyone tell me what to expect based on theirs?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

I have a 1500 extended cab with the 6.0, 265X17 tires, and 3:73 gears. The computer says we are still averaging 14.8. We live in a rural area.
I think there may be a littledifference between my6.0 then the one in a 2500.

i have an 05 2500 hd silverado four wheel drive, i get about 10.5 mpg. , but keep in mind i have a lift and 35 x 12.50 tires too. i would safley say the new one would get around 17 to 18 mpg , just a guess though, good luck. as for the 6.0 in a 1500 series truck i havent seen one , not to say there not out there, i just havent seen one, would be one hell of a hot rod though.

On that note why buy a 2500 unless you need it and then gas milage is irrelavent if you need it you need it...if not buy a halt ton.

I don't know what you mean, but the main reason was the varible valve timing.
I know what it will tow and I know it switches from 4 to 8, and I also know it comes with theHDtransimission, has oilcoolers, and a 9.5 trailering axle,if that is knowing all about it. I ordered it just like I wanted it. Didn't get the trailer package cause I don't tow much, only my tractor once in a while.
The switching back and forth from 4 to 8is a joke as far as I can tell. Of course, I live in a hilly part of Ohio and it doesn't get into 4 very often. I got 15.3 with the 2003 5.3 I had before. I can't believe 22 but I guess it possible. My C6 Corvette gets and average of 23 and I hear it can get 28 or 29 on the road. Although I never get it, but I've never made a trip with it.
I had a new 66 OLds.442 that came from the factory with the valve timing chain advanced one tooth. We had all kind of low end torque but it would fall on it's face on top end. Best speed was95mph in the quarter at about 14.6 sec. After checking out many everything else, I finally check the valve timing. Found it was one tooth advanced. Changed it and the low end torque was not quite as much but the top end had more power. My wife's first run brought a 14:01 seconds and 102 mph. So I know what valve timing does.

Also forgot it won't tow 10,000 without the Maxtrailer package and 4:11 gears. Only good for 8500lb. Also don't get the four wheel disc brakes unless you order the trailering package or Stabilitrak, which my dealer forgot to include since it is standard on a crew cab.
