The interior shifter moves freely but will not go into gear.

 

A cable runs from the shifter to the transmission.


Crawl under the car and see if the cable is connected to the tranny.

 

Thank you very much for that information. I did find that the end of the shifter cable came off the linkage at the transmission. I couldn't get under the vehicle because of where I was at on a steep hill with blocks at the tires. But I ordered a grommet kit for the cable ends that attach to the linkage. I just zip tied it for the time being until the parts come in.
