Default New Radio in '08 Silverado

I'm wanting to replace the radio with a nice 7" screen of some sort. I've already got a handle of what type of radio and the harness's and such necessary but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the radio out. Is there any documentation or anything anywhere that would point me in the right direction? I assume after I get the first layer of plastic on the exterior of the dash it will all be down hill from there, but not sure how to go about that.

hi, look i have an '07 silverado and i'm in the same prosses, i have the navigation sistem in the truck now (it is still locked up but i'm working in to unlock it and i got help in this site just a minut ago) so to take off the factory radio was really simple, really you just remove the plastic panel and you have access to 2 screws in front of the radio, remove them and you'r done.

I am looking for a little direction on how to remove that plastic panel. It is pretty big and I don't want to break anything. This is an example of what my dash looks like.

I have seen 2 slightly different dashes floating around. This one, (like mine) and one with a much smaller dash piece that gets removed.

Remove the drivers knee bolster, (2 phillips and a 10mm bolt), remove the panel right next to it, (2 7mm bolts), then, starting at the upper right corner, grab the dash above the vent with your fingers(or a plastic pry bar if you're not strong enough =), and just pull. Work your way around the topthen down along the shifter. Its all clips.

When putting it back, the upper left corner of the panel can be a bugger as it kind of goes underneath the dash. I uaully push the vents in, then take a plastic prybar to pry the corner under the dash and then just hit the rest back together.
