New Shocks
I am going to be getting new shocks for my Silverado this week. My neighbor is going to install them for me if I buy him a case of beer (Cool, eh?). I hope we can have it done by Friday or Saturday.
Anyway, I got a price of about $100 for all four shock absorbers - Advance Auto Parts - and the brand name of them is Monroe. These are pretty much in the middle of the price range ($12 each all the way to $45 each) of their available choices. They are WAY BETTER than OEM quality, which should be fine for me. My truck is 2wd and I seldom haul anything very heavy; but I would like a firmer ride.
I have used Monroe shocks in cars before, and I have been pleased with them. Any of you have experience with them in a Chevy truck? Just curious.
My front end guy recommended KYB for my truck front end when I had an alighment/idler arm replaced? I don't like them, in fact, I don't like gas shocks. Too weak on the up stroke. I ran some Rancho 9000 adjustable hydraulic shocks on my last truck, and loved their action in all conditions. They are strong, reliable, and that adjustable feature can be useful. Once in a while. Mostly I just ran them on 9.
