Default not gettin the power its suppose to?

I have an 01 silverado z71 x cab 5.3 with CAI and a Bully Dog chip. The problem is that I raced my friends stock Hemi and it smoked me by two car lengths until i caught him. But he raced my friend with the same set up I have in his truck and he burned him. Is my truck not gettin all the power its suppose to? What can i do to fix that?

Do you and your friend have the same gear ratio?

A few variables come to mind.

First, what's the difference in mileage of the two Chevys? Assuming for a moment that the gear ratio is the same, how about air filters, gas filters, and plugs? We're also assuming both trucks are Z-71s.

A bad transmission filter would bog you down a bit. Do you gas up at the same station? Use the same octane? Do you both still have the same type exhaust?

There's also the possibility the Hemi performed poorly on the second run and you're completely OK. Did you run Chevy vs Chevy?

We have the same ratio and i've got about 3000 less miles than he does. No we haven't run chevy vs. chevy because we figure same setup so it should be close but i'll have to get under the hood and check it out.I have a volant air intake...what filter would be better to put on it besides the one that came with it?

Chevy to Chevy eliminates the Dodge's performance as a variable. You still would have to figure out why the difference in power.(speed, acceleration, whatever)

What IS the mileage, and when did you change your transmission filter last?

How does your truck's exhaust repair histories compare? If your buddy got a duel exhaust, and you didn't...

Are the tires the same size?

MDTAHOE's right, difference in driving styles is another possibility.

After racing Z to Z, you should switch trucks with your partner and see if he still beats you off the line, to eliminate another variable.

If you compare maintenance notes, you may find something that points to his truck having an overall power advantage. All it takes for him to beat you is 3/4 to 1-1/4 second lag time.
It could be something really small, like a slipped timing chain, or slightly worn crank bearings.Maybe it's a cracked Gefralter housing causing a vacuum leak.
