Hello all-
I had the very common pump rub issue and I got my parts in the mail yesterday to fix it. (New rear half of the t-case, merchant auto pump upgrade) I got it all put back together and the t-case works fine, 4HI, 4LOW, 2HI all work. However, while driving at varying speeds, there is a whining, almost metalic scraping noise coming from the t-case now. It's not loud enough to hear in the cab, but you can hear it when passing cars, fences, etc. I'm fairly sure it's coming from the front driveline output shaft area. Could it be just that the bearing isn't completely lubricated yet and making noise? Or the pump is just a little noisier than the old one? Has anybody else had this issue? It's worrying me a little bit because the truck never had that noise before I opened the t-case up. I have driven it about 4 miles since the new pump install.
