Default Odometer Programming

Sorry if this is a subject that is all over the archives. The search function doesn't work on this Droid X.

Anyway, my buddy has an 03 full size chevy truck and the instrument cluster needs to be removed. He found a replacement, but was told he has to pay big bucks at the dealer to get the correct mileage set. Is this true?.....or is there some other cheaper way?

Thanks in advance.

Call Carl. I think he would be cheaper and he's very reliable. I bought a new one from him through ebay.

There can be issue with NOT programming it. The cluster is programmed to the VIN so that all the functions work correctly.
