Default Oil consumption

I own a 2002 Sierra with 148K and a 2006 Tahoe with 120K both now use oil up to 2 quarts every oil change. Both I bought new,I have ran nothing but Mobile 1 from first oil change,I change oil every 7-8K using a Mobile 1 filter.
When new up to 75-100K no oil consumption.
My old 90 chevy 4.3 never used oil even with 168K on it.
I switched the sierra to Castrol same thing.
My father has a Avalanch with 114K ran nothing but amsoil without any oil consumption.

Does anyone else have higher milage oil cunsumption with there V8 ?

I have no leaks and the tail pipe is clean, where is it going ?

Its most likely being consumed by the engine and is being burnt up in the catalyst...

Would that be normal to have a clean tail pipe ?
I guess Mobile 1 isnt that great after all.
Does anyone know if changing to 10w 30 or even 10w 40 would help the oil consumption and would 10w 40 harm anything.I know 10w 30 would be ok.
I also dont want to hurt my milage I get 16 in sierra and 17 in tahoe.

It's not your oil, in my opinion.

Finding a Chevy that doesn't use a drop is really a rarity. Oil consumption is in their nature and insures upper cylinder lube.
