oil level high on dipstick after oil change?
After a fresh oil change i checked my dipstick after the truck sat for 4 hours on a perfectly level shop floor. The level was slightly high. After I ran it for a few seconds the level went back to the full mark. I have 6 quarts in it including a filter change, per the manual. Im worried about engine damage or gaskets being blown from the extra levels. Is this normal? Its little under 5/8 of an inch from the full mark.

'Spose it would read high if you put in 6 quarts. Chevy engines take 5 quarts unless you have the extra deep oil filter.

For starters my 2011 Silverado 1500 takes 6 quarts of oil with the filter as well and it is not a deep filter.
When you pour new oil into a drained engine/oil pan it all settles so it would give a hide reading. When the engine turns on it begins to move the oil and thus your reading would go down some.
You should monitor the level for the next few days but it sounds like there shouldn't be any issue. I also would tend to bet that the level will be high each morning and when you check it after driving it will be down some.

Some of the 5.7s in the g series vans hold 5.5 to 6 quarts some of the 5.7 4x4 vortecs hold 4.75 quarts most 5.7s are 5 quarts and most 4.8 5.3 and 6.0s hold 6 quarts with filter depends on how much sludge is in the bottom from my experience in the lube shop
