Default Oil Pressure Drops to 0 after warm up

97 Silverado 5.7L

I'm just curious, what would cause the oil pressure to drop to 0 when the engine is warmed up? Even at 1000-1500rpm the oil pressure can be very low..the "Check Gauges" light will be on. This is the same engine with the bad connecting rod bearing.

I'll be ripping it out and replacing it but I was just curious if there was a thermo valve in the oil system that could do that.
