Default Oil Pressure Gauge

What would cause this...two times now when I come to a stop after driving a fair distance on the highway, the oil pressure gauge dips down to 0 and the check gauges light comes on. Gauge needle swings around a bit at the stop and check gauges light flickers. After I get going, light goes out and truck continues to run fine. CEL never comes on. Mechanic said it might be the gauge, but is there anything else that would cause it? Thanks!
