OVER THE GVWR
Hi I have a 02 silverado z71. My question is can I go over the GVWR BY 4 OR 5 hundred lbs. if I can't what kind of damage would I do. The thing is that I am pulling a camper and my towing wieght is fine but I am A over my GVWR BY 4 or 5 hundred
i think so.........you might want to really check it with payload but i can not remember if my godmothers 94 2500 is over gvw or tow limit.......i know she is over one and the truck still pulls and hasnt blown out pulling yet(an old 3 horse slant that is made of steel)
how often would you be pulling this sort of weight? my buddy has been pulling a trailer that was overweight for his truck and it was ok for a while but then it started going though brakes like every year or so. if its only a few times it wont hurt to much but if your doing it 2 or 3 times a week i would look into a heavyer rear spring in the truck to help it out a bit plus does the trailer have brakes on it? thast would help also. hope this helps.
